Bette Midler has been performing since the 70's, and is one of America's top musical performers. In Las Vegas, Bette Midler is well known for elaborate costumes, outrageous antics, and show-stoppping musical numbers. Her stage performance is unforgettable and includes her backing band and backup singers, the Harlettes. Midler has received a total of four Grammy awards. She received a Grammy for record of the year in 1989, for her song "Wind Beneath My Wings". Another Grammy she won was for Best Pop Vocal Performance for "the Rose" in 1980. Midler is also a well known actress and has performed in television, Broadway, and film. She received Oscar nominations for her performance in the films, "The Rose", and "For the Boys". Some of her more memorable movies are "Beaches", "The First Wives' Club", "Outrageous Fortune," and "Scenes from a Mall". In 1992 Midler won an Emmy Award in for her performance on the Tonight Show's final episode, during which she sang an unforgettable "One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)" for Johnny Carson. She had her own sitcom on CBS called "Bette" in 2000-2001. Bette Midler's Las Vegas show is titled "Bette Midler: The Showgirl Must Go On", and is held at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Bette Midler's Vegas show had its debut on February 20, 2008. There are approximately 100 shows during a two year run. The show includes The Staggering Harlettes, a thirteen piece band, and twenty dancers. |
