The soft, gentle sound of water against the side of the boat, the hypnotic sound of the gondolier belting out his favorite Italian love song, no you aren't in Italy, you are in the middle of the Vegas desert at the Venetian Gondola ride.
Taken from the gondola rides in Venice, the Venetian does everything it can to recreate the experience for its guests. Right down to the shops and cafes that line the canals. While there can be several gondolas in the lagoon at any given time, the Venetian saves one gondola for certain special situations. The wedding gondola is decked out in white and gold and serves as the site for wedding ceremonies.
To keep traffic on the lagoon down to a minimum, there are two types of gondolas. The indoor ones make their way through the Grand Canal Shoppes and beneath bridges and a ceiling that is painted to portray a clear blue sky. The indoor gondola ride lasts 14 minutes and is perfect for those that want to get an up close view of the shops that line the canal. The outdoor gondola ride provides the same type of experience with one change, instead of gliding through the Grand Canal Shoppes, patrons are taken past the outside of the Venetian so they can get the perfect view of the Vegas Strip.
For those that want to get the full gondola experience, try getting to the lagoon 15 minutes early. It's the perfect opportunity to watch the gondoliers starting their day by belting out their favorite tune.
