Searching for a daytrip outside of Las Vegas? Try heading out to Hoover Dam. Honored as one of the top 10 construction structures of the 20th century, the Hoover Dam continues to draw crowds on a daily basis.

Originally named Boulder Canyon Dam, it was renamed in 1947 after President Hoover. Named as a National Landmark, the dam is the highest concrete dam in the Western Hemisphere as it stands more than 725 feet above the Colorado River.

Guests visiting the dam get the unique opportunity to pick which parts of the dam they want to see as tour guides guide them through the two hour tour. The Discovery Tour starts with a short video that goes over the beginnings of the dam, the tour group then heads over to an elevator for a tour of the power plant generators which are located at the base of the dam.

One of the most popular stops along the tour is the observation deck, the perfect place for those that want to get some breath taking views of the Colorado River and Lake Mead in the distance. The observation deck also give visitors the perfect view of the facility's mechanical parts.

From the Winged Figures of the Republic to the Nevada Intake Tower, the Hoover Dam tour will leave its visitors in utter amazement. Its understandable why after leaving the tour, guests are often left saying that they have just taken the best dam tour.
