Dinner shows and all you can eat buffets in Vegas are nothing new, but not too many transport you to a far away island like the Imperial Palace is able to do. Guests at the hotel are invited to dine at an authentic Hawaiian luau.

In its 15th year, the luau is held at the Shangri-LA pool and offers its guests a variety of buffet specialties including rosted beef, pork, shrimp, ribs, salad and desert. If the leis and mai-tai's aren't enough to warm up the crowd, audience members are brought up on stage to learn the typical Hawaiian greeting such as aloha and the hand gesture for hang loose. The Island Magic Band completes the exotic feel by belting out some island tunes.

With a blast of a conch shell the audience is guided back to their seats and the true dinning experience is ready to begin. Dancers in colorful sarongs make their way out on the stage and begin to perform a variety of Polynesian dances. A touch of danger is added to the show as fire sticks get thrown into the act, as the crowd begins to get louder in anticipation the dancer twirls the sticks faster and faster.

Whether you are looking to escape from the neon lights of the Strip or looking to indulge yourself in some island fantasy, the Hawaiian luau is sure to leave a tropical taste in your mouth long after the leis have.
