Gambling may be what everybody thinks about when Vegas comes to mind, by very few really know what put the state of Nevada on the map. The Nevada State Museum now gives patrons the chance to see all the factors that went into making the state one of the fastest growing state's in the country.
Only in a Nevada museum can you go from a display that goes over the history of Las Vegas with photo exhibits, neon signs and an area dedicated to Bugsy Siegel and in the very next exhibit find yourself eye to eye with a Stegosaurus.
Feel free to take your time as you check out the history of man in Nevada by checking out the artifacts such as hand woven baskets that were left by Native Americans.
Of course no look at history would be complete without remembering what Nevada was first famous for. That is why the museum has dedicated a section to the nuclear testing that was done. Patrons will find photos, posters and newspaper clippings all depicting the ground breaking testing. One of the most moving photos tells the story of a hose that collapsed during a nuclear blast.
